Yes. But if you didn't sign up for Medicare when you first became eligible, you have a limited time to sign up without paying the late enrollment penalty. This is called the "Special Enrollment Period." Your Special Enrollment Period starts the day you get the notice that your MA or MinnesotaCare coverage is ending. It Special Enrollment Period lasts for 6 months after your MA or MinnesotaCare coverage ends.
Your Medicare coverage starts the month after you sign up, or the date your MA or MinnesotaCare coverage ends. You get to choose which.
